RHI BERGADO
Rhi is a first-generation Pilipinx American filmmaker from Long Beach, California who actively speaks on the intersectionality of their identity in various forms. From on-stage storytelling to activism and filmmaking, Rhi has always used their voice to shed light on underrepresented communities. Their written work has been published in the book Inspiration for LGBT Students & Their Allies and will be featured in the upcoming all-female horror anthology Creepy Bitches.
Rhi got their start in documentary films as a member of Armed with a Camera, which earned them a grant from the James Irvine Foundation to direct a documentary about the queer Latinx punk scene in Orange County. Since then they have worked for Disney Parks and Resorts on campaigns like Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Nemo, and High School Musical. Rhi also served as the head of production for FEARnet horror movie channel, creating branded content, and original shows and interstitials in the horror, comic-con, and gaming space. More recently Rhi has produced branded, reality, and documentary content with Urban Decay, collaborating with Disney's Alice franchise, HBO's Game of Thrones, Gwen Stefani, and Lizzo.
Rhi has over 10 years of experience producing content for social media platforms, 5 years of experience in digital networks and OTT programming, and 5 years of experience in international creative campaigns. Rhi has built production teams, post facilities, and studio content labs from the ground up and with over ten years of creative exploration and physical production experience, they are an accomplished media storyteller.
In addition to being a passionate filmmaker, Rhi has also had photography published in the New York Post's beauty and fashion insert Alexa. More recently, Rhi directed a short documentary called Berg's Video, telling the story of Their family immigrating to America in the 1970's and growing up in the storage room of a neighborhood video rental store in the 1980's.
When Rhi is not making films and taking names, they can be found DJing parties at Comic-Cons and Anime conventions across the country and tweeting passionately about the newest Webtoon release.
